Matthew Jenkins Psychotherapy

About Me

I am a fully qualified humanistic and integrative psychotherapist. I completed my 7-year MA training with Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling. I have been in private practice since 2017 and have also worked for an organisation focusing on addiction. I work in central Bath and am able to offer online video sessions as well.

I aim to provide a safe, supportive and nurturing environment so that together we can explore whatever difficulties you are experiencing in a secure and confidential space. I understand that you may seek the support of a psychotherapist for a number of reasons including, anxiety, depression and relationship problems. My integrative training enables me to draw on a wide range of different theoretical perspectives to meet your specific and individual needs.

My professional interests include, but are not limited to, themes such as early childhood trauma, identity, separation and depression.

Why I do What I Do

What is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is a chance for you to be heard and understood, in a safe, non-judgemental and supportive environment. It can offer a space in which you can explore your feelings and express yourself in an authentic and meaningful way.

Psychotherapy allows for the opportunity to look at ourselves in the present, where we might want to go in our future and how our past might have got us to where we are now.

There are many reasons someone might seek Psychotherapy. There are likely to be times in everyone's life when we might feel surrounded by dread, that nothing brings us joy or an all-encompassing feeling of helplessness. Being able to talk to someone about your feelings and experiences, knowing we are no longer alone with what we face, can often bring much needed relief.

Psychotherapy is also about a relationship. We might feel anxious or worried, find certain situations difficult, many of these feelings can be a product of our relationships. Psychotherapy can not only help us to better understand our relationships with others but also our relationship with ourselves.
